Rome was built on seven hills, and Oak Ridge was built on four mountain ridges, from Black Oak Ridge (its namesake) running east to Haw Ridge. West of the city lie Walden and Pine Ridges, who, though outside the city proper, shape its nature, its weather, and its outlook. This site is built on that pattern, with each ridge having its own topic, and with Gaps and Valleys and byroads to take you in other directions.
